Tuesday, February 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment of his ashes will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Food For The Poor, c/o Jean Niebur, P.O. Box 753, Malta, MT 59538.     Mark was born on November 11th 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Sylvester and Magdalene Niebur, and raised in Illinois. After high school, Mark served in the United States Airforce as a mechanic while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. On July 7th 1956, Mark married the love of his life, Mary Jean Hickey. Together they raised 7 beautiful children.

While in Nebraska, Mark sold fertilizer for Olin Matheson Chemical Company. One of his many loves was hunting and fishing in Montana, so much so that in 1968 Mark moved his family to Billings. Two years later, in 1970 they headed north to Malta where Mark could try his hand at being a “green horned rancher.” Mark was a farmer, rancher, and jack of all trades. He was able to build or make anything including his infamous Noah’s Ark. He loved the outdoors, a good round of golf, and debating religion and politics until the end.

Survivors include his wife Jean, children Bill (Pauline) of Des Moines, IA, Mary (Jay) Hunt of Spokane, WA, Joe (Cathy) of Colorado Springs, CO, John (Mary Jenni) of Lewistown, MT, Tom (Darla) of Malta, MT, Jim (Marcie) of Big Timber, MT, Ann of Malta, MT, 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild arriving in May and his sisters Evelyn Anderson and Bernadette Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Alice Stein and Verdene Langford.

Mark’s passion was his family. He will be remembered for being a courageous man, for his never failing devotion to praying the rosary and his overwhelming generosity while continually giving to the poor. He was incomparable. He ruled with an iron fist yet had the most generous heart, giving anything to anyone even when he had nothing to give.
