WHITEWATER-Monte W. Mavencamp, 80, a farmer/rancher, died Sunday, April 10, at Northern Montana Hospital.

    The family will receive friends at 7 P.M., Thursday, April 14, at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 15 at the chapel. Interment will be in the Forks Cemetery at Whitewater. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

    Monte W. Mavencamp, born at Cole, Mt on November 25, 1935, the third son of Fred J & Helen (Carlson)Mavencamp. He became a lifetime farmer & rancher when he moved with his family in 1952 to Northeast Whitewater. Monte graduated from Whitewater High School in 1954. He helped his Dad and brothers with breeding sheep and raising chicken to sell as fryers at the local store in Saco. Monte also helped neighbors with hauling hay and drove the school bus his senior year of high school and later worked on the building of the old gym. He married Helen Arndt on November 27, 1957 and they had six children. He was a 4-H leader and on the board of the North Phillips County State Grazing District and also the Farmers Union Oil Co.

    He is survived by Mary (Chet)Barnard of Hinsdale, Fred (Gail) Mavencamp of Malta, June Mavencamp of Malta, Jean Mavencamp of Malta, Charlene (Bob) Sunford of Saco and John Mavencamp of Whitewater. He was a grandfather to 14 grandchildren; Cindy, Tami, Wendy, Devin, Karly, Randi, Eric, Heather, Samantha, Justin, Jessica, Mikal, Chrystal & Mechaela; Great Grand Children; Allexis, Shane, Shelton, Orion, Abilgail, Mryacle, Taelynn, Paisley, Sierra, Cody & Jace; two brothers, Bud (Wilma) Mavencamp and Morris (Barby) Mavencamp; sister-in-law, Marion Frost.

    Monte was preceded in death by his wife Helen Arndt Mavencamp, his parents Fred J & Helen Mavencamp; brother, Donald Mavencamp, & sister, Barbara Henderson.
