She was born to Louis and Mabel Plouffe on August 1st, 1943 in Malta, MT. Nancy attended school in Strater. She married Ron Soennichsen April 1st, 1963. They later divorced but remained lifelong friends, raising their children together. She met Jim Jones in 1990, and the two were partners until the end. They spent many happy years’ woodworking, bird watching, and enjoying each other’s companionship. They always enjoyed a healthy competition when it came to fishing and cards.

Nancy was a lover of the outdoors all her life. As a young girl, she often chose the outdoor, labor-intensive chores over household chores. These childhood experiences fine-tuned her into the hardworking, strong woman that she was. This led to her many successes in the work force. Nancy was the manager of the Malta Dairy Queen for many years where she helped to instill work ethic and business sense in the youth of Malta.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, fishing, cooking, and canning. She was an avid seamstress and loved to quilt and embroidery. She made beautiful matching outfits for her daughters, as well as special quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy was always a supporting spectator at many youth and school activities. Later in life the highlight of her week was playing cards at the senior center with her many friends. She loved hosting family holidays where she would cook extravagant meals, play games, and enjoy good conversation. Nancy had a smile that could light up the room, and a witty and clever sense of humor. She was a selfless and humble person, and had a knack for anticipating the needs of others. Her greatest virtue was her capacity to love unconditionally.

Nancy is survived by James L. Jones; her daughters Rhonda Waters, Terri Cole, and KayDel (Del) Stiles. Grandchildren Baxter (Ashley) Waters, Eli Waters, Sascha (Tyler) Luloff, Satchel Cole, Tachante Cole, Shade (Kayla) Stiles, Jaren Stiles, Dane (Amanda) Stiles, Mercedes Stiles (Nolan) Simanton, Sophia Stiles, and Chevelle RedEagle Stiles.
