The family would like to announce the peaceful passing of Grandma Elizabeth Hofer, of Loring Colony on April 1, 2018. Elizabeth was born on October 21, 1926 at Menno, South Dakota. Her family moved to Wolf Creek, Alberta in 1930. They resided there until 1958, and then moved to Downie Lake Colony. She lived there until she got married to the love of her life, David Hofer. She then moved to Deerfield Colony with him.

They were blessed with one son, Kurt Hofer of Saco, Montana, and six daughters, Matilda (Darius), Bertha (John) both of Red Deere, Alberta, Barbra (Pre. Martin) of Earview, SK, Esther (George) of East Malta, Montana, Martha (Joe) of Drumheller, Alberta, Mary Ann (Wayne) of Arm River, SK. Her childern were the joy of her life, along with her 32 grandchildren,26 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, David Hofer, an infant daughter, Rebecca, a grandchild, Ivan, her parents, Paul and Rebecca Stahl, and two sisters, Annie (Paul) of Viking, Alberta, Rebecca (Jacob) of Ponteix, SK.

Elizabeth was a homemaker. No job was too big for her. She enjoyed kindergarten and helping her husband with his poultry job. She enjoyed sewing and knitting very much. She especially loved knitting baby items for her grandchildren. Each day after breakfast Elizabeth spent time with God. She enjoyed praising the Lord with songs and reading from the book of John until the very end. Elizabeth worked with the ladies of the colony until her health failed in 2005. Her loving daughters then decided to come and care for her. Loring Colony was our home away from home. Good coffee and company was always on at Elizabeth's house. She always looked forward to coffee with Anita at three. Elizabeth was an excellent mother, always teaching her children right from wrong. On behalf of all the family we would like to send out a special thank you for all the prayers, kindness, and support. Also a special thank you to everyone who came to look in on mom. Elizabeth is now safely in the arms of God.
