Malta – Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Sintler, a meticulous homemaker, died peacefully on April 15, 2018 at the Malta Hi-Line Retirement Center with her three children by her side.

As per her wishes, there will be no services. Condolences for the family may be left at www.Kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Mary Lou was born on February 9, 1921 in Dubuque, Iowa to Ted and Hazel Chase. Her family was raised throughout Iowa, Nebraska and settling in Bowdoin, MT. She was the oldest of seven children and the heartiest one to live to the ripe old age of 97

She married Jim Sintler on March 23, 1938 in Great Falls, MT. They farmed and ranched in the Strater Community until they moved into Malta in 1986. Mary Lou was involved in Home Demonstration Club; an excellent baker, cook, meticulous quilter, seamstress, and knitter and embroider. Her and Jim were avid square dancers and danced throughout Montana, Canada and North Dakota. Mary Lou stated that those were the best years of her their life. Her and Jim enjoyed awesome friends with whom they played cards with, fished together and danced on Saturday nights.

In 2002 her husband Jim passed away. She continued to live in her home until 2011 when she sold her it and moved to the Hi-Line Retirement Center. While at the retirement center, she continued to make Krum Kaka and Caramel Corn on a regular basis, always sharing with residents and staff.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by Siblings; Aaron (Bud), Donald, Edith, Dorothy, Mary Ann (Honey) and Bill.

She is survived by: one golden son, Jim (Leila) of Malta, and two daughters, Sherry (Sam) Richardson of Fort Peck and Shelley of Malta. Grandchildren, Jim (Gena) of MN, Kari (Greg) Johnson of NV, Ted (Ashlee) of KS, Sherrill Dunbar of TX, and Grant (Melissa) of Malta. Great Grandchildren: Jim, Nicole, Brock, Tyanna, Isla, Ainsley, Grayson, Colton and Peyton.

Last but not least, special friends, Norma & Ted Kelly, who were super neighbors and continue to be lifelong friends with the family and Linda and Bum Petrie, all of Malta. The children always laughed and teased Mary Lou about Linda being the daughter mom always wanted. We will miss our mother, but know that she’s in heaven at peace and without pain. We love you mom.
