Malta – Randy Bruce Skinner, 64, a loving husband, father, papa and friend passed away on May 12, 2018, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Randy was born July 2, 1953 to Paul & Pearl Skinner of Malta. He graduated from Malta High School in 1972 and went into the construction business with his dad. They developed the Skinner Addition Subdivision in Malta. He continued the business until his passing.

On August 8, 1981 Randy married Leya Ellsworth and had 3 children, Jennifer, Eric and Heidi. He spent many hours helping his dad farm and ranch after Paul was able to buy back the original Skinner Homestead. Though he never considered it “work” he just loved every minute of it- whether on the tractor or with the cows. Randy considered Phillips County to be “Heaven on Earth”. He planned never to leave.

Randy was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing. He bagged elk, deer, bear, moose, antelope, mountain lion, geese, ducks, and turkey. He caught his share of walleye and northerns. Randy made beautiful recurve take-down bows, wood and metal arrows. He enjoyed his children’s activities and sporting events. Spending many hours in the bleachers of MHS and traveling the state.

Friends and family will miss his crazy stories and unique laugh! Randy never met a stranger – he could have made friends with a “rock”. He lived large, played hard, worked harder and loved deeply. He was devoted to his faith, loved the lord and his church family.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Pearl Skinner, sisters Marilyn Lou and Sally Farnham, special friends, Dr. Carl and Pat Totman.

He is survived by: wife Leya, daughters, Jennifer (Matt) LaMont, Heidi (Tyler) Sjostrom, son Eric Skinner, his pride & joy, 8 grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, DeLeya LaMont, Logan Sheppard, Mason, Myles, Max, Molly Sjostrom who will miss him so much, brother Dennis (Kelly) Skinner, sister Pat (Bob) Fetsche, mother-in-law Mary Ann Ellsworth, brother-in-law Neil Ellsworth, his best friend, hunting and fishing buddy, (other brother) Alan (Kim) Guderjahn, numerous cousins, nieces, and his special nephews whom he dearly loved, Dusty Young, a lifelong friend that he loved like a brother, 3 aunts, Donna Kirkaldie, June Ecklund and Betty Flom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to American Cancer Society, MMRF – Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Harvest Assembly of God Church in Saco or the Elim Lutheran Church of Malta.
